Acquisition of a new permanent auction site in Houston expands company’s global operations

EURO Auctions, the UK and Ireland’s largest auctioneers of construction machinery and industrial equipment, are continuing their global expansion with the acquisition of a new auction site in Houston, Texas.

Covering five acres and situated only four miles from William P Hobby Airport and 17 miles from the port of Houston, the new site secures a firm trading platform in the US that also offers easy access to Mexico and South America.

‘We conducted our first sale at the Houston site on 4 December 2015 to gauge both local and countrywide interest…and the results were very encouraging,’ commented Jonnie Keys, general manager of Euro Auctions. ‘As such, we have now secured this site as our auction facility in Texas.

‘The Texas region has long been seen as one of the most important in the US and we feel it is good to have a presence in this area as we grow the Euro Auctions brand worldwide. This new site will also allow Euro Auctions to gain access to the Mexican and South American markets through the port of Houston.’

The first full sale at the Houston site in 2016 is scheduled for Friday 18 March and will see in excess of 300 lots of mixed earthmoving equipment and construction equipment go under the hammer.

During the last 10 years, Euro Auctions say they have forged excellent trade links within the US, building relationships with many of the international players in the used equipment and machinery markets.

A pivotal move was the opening of the company’s first permanent US auction site in Atlanta, Georgia, in June 2013 – the foundation on which the whole development of the US market for Euro Auctions was based.

Steve Watson, country manager for the US, said: ‘Euro Auctions have long-aspired to expand within the US market but plans have always hinged on finding suitable facilities from which to trade.

‘With the acquisition of the Euro Auctions Atlanta site in 2013 and now the new Houston site, we now have the unique opportunity to be located among the hub of the American equipment industry, which will be instrumental to the success of this venture.’
