HATCON remote monitoring device

New monitoring device for hydraulic breakers and drum cutters designed to improve safety and efficiency

EPIROC have introduced HATCON (Hydraulic Attachment Tools Connectivity), a remote monitoring device for hydraulic breakers and drum cutters that keeps track of their location and operating hours to improve safety and efficiency.

The cloud-based platform My Epiroc will provide customers with notifications about service requirements, create task lists and provide an overview of the entire fleet, with all data presented in a straightforward way to simplify both everyday duties and long-term decision-making.

HATCON is available factory mounted or as a retrofit kit for all Epiroc premium-range breakers and drum cutters. Once connected, the system monitors each individual tool and keeps the customer updated via My Epiroc. Service notifications and wear part alerts are among the features designed to help increase efficiency.

‘HATCON provides a new level of control. You’ll always know where your tools are, what they are doing, when they need servicing or if any tool is running more than another – it basically keeps you ahead,’ said Torsten Ahr, Epiroc’s vice-president of marketing for hydraulic attachment tools.

‘And with My Epiroc, everything from scheduling services to identifying faults and finding new solutions will be much faster and easier. This information will not only create a smoother workflow with less downtime, it could also be vital in reaching overall business goals.’

With data available at all times, even offline, regardless of device, everyone from operators to fleet managers will have a more comprehensive view and be able to take better decisions.

Moreover, as the data is shared with Epiroc, they will be able to provide better service, for example shipping wear parts just in time for a scheduled maintenance stop. For larger fleets with complex logistics, the GPS function will be a major asset, and knowing the location of every tool will support customers’ anti-theft systems.

‘We’ve have been longing to provide this service and I’m confident it will be very valuable for our customers – and for us,’ said Mr Ahr. ‘By adding HATCON to our offer, we want to strengthen your business and help you protect your investment.’
