Energy-efficient belt system

Companies switching to PolyChain timing belts, manufactured by Gates, could cut their energy costs by around 10% over three years, claim distributors BSL Brammer.

Featuring a polyurethane body, aramid fibre tensile cords and nylon tooth facing, PolyChain has been developed to improve belt-drive efficiency, reduce lifetime costs, and provide high-power load-carrying capacity.

Although PolyChain may cost more than conventional drive-belts, the energy savings are considerable as are the maintenance-free cost savings. Other benefits include: low noise levels; substantial weight and space savings; the ability to operate under extreme temperatures; and resistance to oil, chemicals, pollutants, corrosion and abrasion.

The belts are suitable for use in various applications, including fans, blowers, pumps, conveyor drives, mixers and centrifuges.
