Doosan launch new Stage IIIB-compliant wheel loader

Doosan DL550-3 wheel loader

Latest DL550-3 is the largest model in the next-generation of wheel loaders from Doosan

DOOSAN Infracore Construction Equipment have launched their new top-of-the-range wheel loader – the Stage IIIB-compliant DL550-3 model. With a bucket capacity of 5.4 cubic metres, the new flagship wheel loader has been designed to meet a wide range of material handling needs from loading and transporting granular material to quarrying and mining applications.

As with all Doosan equipment, the DL550-3 model has been specially developed to optimize fuel-efficiency. It is powered by a 13-litre Scania DC13 SCR six-cylinder diesel engine, said to deliver ‘best in class’ power and engine torque, with a maximum power output of 283kW at 1,800 rev/min.

The high engine output is combined with a new ZF five-gear transmission and several other features that, as well as reducing fuel consumption, provide superior performance, ease of handling, serviceability, durability and enhanced operator comfort.

The ZF transmission improves the transfer of power from the engine to the wheels and contributes to the overall reduction in fuel consumption. The change from four to five gears provides quicker response and acceleration, especially on slopes. Engine speed variation has been reduced due to smaller gear steps, while lower engine speed throughout the whole drive range minimizes fuel consumption.

The DL550-3 loader is equipped with the latest ZF limited-slip Type II differential axles, offering more durability and a longer service life. Rolling resistance for the axles is also reduced, improving traction and, again, helps reduce fuel consumption.

The machine features a load-sensing controlled, variable hydraulic piston pump and torque-converter-lock-up (TCLU) system, which provides a direct mechanical connection between the engine and transmission without loss of power and torque. TCLU can be engaged from the 2nd to 5th gear, making it more performance efficient.
