Documentary dig

When Ayton Asphalte, part of the highways and utilities division of May Gurney, obtained permission to extract 250,000 tonnes of sand and gravel from Attleborough Quarry in Norfolk, they knew an archaeological dig would be necessary. However, the significance of the site, which dates from the neolithic period, has delighted archaeologists who believe the location is particularly important within Boadicea’s territory in East Anglia. As a result, Attleborough Quarry is to feature in a new Channel 4 television series which will attempt to strip away the myths and concentrate on the facts surrounding a number of legendary characters from British history. The series will be presented by Tony Robinson of Time Team and Blackadder fame.
