Peter Gillatt takes on new role at Hargreaves and is succeeded by Andy Littler at Longcliffe

HARGREAVES Services plc, the UK’s leading suppliers of solid fuels and bulk material logistics, have announced the appointment of Peter Gillatt as managing director of the company’s Production Division, with effect from 16 September 2013.

Mr Gillatt (pictured) is currently a non-executive director of the company and will, as a result of his new appointment, be stepping down from the board with effect from today [9 September 2013].

He will also stand down from his current role as group managing director of the Longcliffe Group, the Derbyshire-based independent suppliers of calcium carbonates and aggregates.

A chartered mining engineer, Mr Gillatt has more than 35 years’ experience in the minerals sector in senior roles with Lafarge UK, Tarmac (Scotland) and British Coal. He has also spent a period of time in the waste and recycling sector, mainly as chief operating officer of SITA UK.

Commenting on his appointment, Tim Ross, chairman of Hargreaves Services, said: ‘I would like to thank Peter for his considerable contribution to the board and we look forward to working closely with him in his new role focusing on the development of our surface mining business.’

Meanwhile, at Longcliffe Mr Gillatt will be succeeded by Andy Littler as managing director. A chartered mineral processing engineer, Mr Littler has forged a successful career in the quarrying, industrial minerals and related industries, latterly with Tarmac, and will commence his new appointment on 16 September.
