Demolition firm opts for Thompsons Loadmaster bodies

Thompsons Loadmaster

Brocklebank & Co Demolition Ltd take delivery of six new tippers with high-spec Loadmaster Lite bodies

AS one of Yorkshire’s leading recycling operators, Sheffield-based Brocklebank & Co Demolition know a lot about operating tippers in some of the most onerous and heavy-duty applications in the region.

For most of the last two decades, the company’s preferred tipper body has remained the Thompsons Loadmaster, with another six new examples having just gone on the road.

‘Loadmaster is incredibly strong,’ said Brocklebank & Co Demolition owner Nick Brocklebank. ‘The work we put them on is generally rough, tough and very, very hard, with our tippers having to carry everything from concrete and demolition rubble to soil and muck. The body floors can take a real hammering when being loaded and having to withstand enormous levels of abrasion when the loads are tipped out. But the fact is that whatever the job, our Loadmasters always come out on top. They take everything in their stride. It’s just an incredible product.’

Brocklebank have specified single-skinned Loadmasters Lite bodies made of Hardox 450 premium grade steel. Mounted on the newest 8x4 Scania 410hp chassis, each truck payload is more than 19 tonnes.

‘In our business, only premium trucks will do,’ continued Mr Brocklebank. ‘Reliability is the number one factor. Our drivers also need to have full confidence in their vehicles, because that way they will use them responsibly and professionally. Matched with either of the two makes of Swedish truck chassis, Loadmaster gives us the optimum tipper formula.’

Built in Blackburn, Brocklebank’s latest Loadmaster bodies benefit from Thompsons’ recent £500,000 investment in shotblasting and paint at the company’s latest Site 3 on Shadsworth Business Park. Finished quality is now higher than ever, further extending Thompsons’ position as the UK’s premier tipper body producer.

Thompsons’ director Simon Shields commented: ‘Brocklebank are one of those operators that put our products to their highest test. The fact that Loadmaster has remained their tipper body of choice for almost two decades speaks volumes about the product’s exceptional performance and durability.

‘It’s interesting too that Yorkshire has now become a key market for Thompsons where Loadmasters are hugely popular everywhere. We obviously extend a warm thanks to Nick Brocklebank and his team for their continuing business and confidence in our products.’
