CEWEF 2011

Sustainable efficiency to be central theme during Construction Equipment World Economic Forum 2011

THIS year’s Construction Equipment World Economic Forum (CEWEF), will take place at the Dolce la Hulpe Hotel in Brussels from 12–13 September. The event is aimed at anyone involved either directly or indirectly with the sale, purchase, use and maintenance of earthmoving and construction equipment.

Since CEWEF was held for the first time four years ago at the initiative of the Netherlands-based Groeneveld Group, the conference has grown into a respected annual forum for networking and the exchange of information between users and suppliers of earthmoving and construction equipment and associated products.

Some 150 participants are expected at CEWEF 2011, among whom will be decision-makers from leading construction and contracting companies, together with representatives of major suppliers such as Volvo CE, Liebherr, Bell, Caterpillar, JCB, Komatsu, Hyundai, Hitachi, Doosan and others.

‘What makes CEWEF unique is the combination of an exceptionally stimulating networking evening at the start of the conference, followed by a conference day with top speakers from the sector,’ explained Thierry Schuermans, president of CEWEF.

The focus of CEWEF 2011 will be on uptime, efficiency and safety under the slogan ‘Sustainable Efficiency’. Speakers will include: Antonio Barona, research and development manager at Solintel, who will talk about CO2 and energy efficiency in quarries; Achim Sieker, director at the German Federal Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs, who will talk about an accident-free working environment; and Jacqueline Mills of Leaseurope; who will talk about the financing of machinery and equipment.

Other keynote speakers on the conference programme are: Xavier Therin, vice-president land, mineral resources and mining at Lafarge, who will talk about fleet-management optimization; André Krings of Bell Equipment, who will discuss the benefits of automatic greasing of equipment; and Sebastian Maffini of Trimble, who will present a vision of the future of machine monitoring and positioning using telematics.
