CEMEX launch first global ready-mixed concrete

Company introduces new Promptis ready-mixed concrete system to worldwide markets

PROMPTIS is a rapid-hardening, fast-formwork removal concrete technology, which is currently being sold in the UK, France, Ireland, Spain, Croatia and Israel, and will be made available in Austria, Poland, Latvia, UAE and Hungary in the second half of 2011.

According to CEMEX, Promptis can reach early compressive strength in up to 4h, compared with an average of 18h for conventional concrete. Despite its rapid-hardening properties, the ready-mixed concrete has been designed to retain workability for over 90min, thus allowing the material to be easily handled without the risk of sudden hardening, even under extremely hot weather.

The strength of Promptis is said to develop in a progressive manner as it ages, resulting in a highly durable material that exhibits good resistance to shrinkage cracking, in compliance with specifications and standards worldwide.

Promptis is the result of two years’ research and development using CEMEX’s proprietary admixture technology and it can be offered at any of the company’s ready-mixed concrete plants to meet customers’ performance expectations.

CEMEX say the global offering of Promptis has been made possible thanks to a strict industrialization process that ensures the transfer of technology through a close collaboration between research and development, and operations.
