Caterpillar announce new parts distribution centre

New 45,000 sq ft facility in Dubai to strengthen the company’s global after-sales support services

CATERPILLAR Inc. have announced plans to open a new parts distribution centre in Dubai. It will be the third facility to be added to the company’s global service parts distribution network in the last five years.

The 45,000 sq ft centre will further strengthen Caterpillar’s aftermarket parts support in the Africa and Middle East regions and, when staffed at full capacity, will employ up to 120 people. The Dubai facility will also contribute to the company’s sustainable development goals by reducing airfreight for parts ordered in the region.

‘We are very pleased to be adding the Dubai distribution centre to our global parts network,’ said Steve Larson, Caterpillar vice-president with responsibility for parts distribution and logistics. ‘With the product support capability of Cat dealers in the region and the improved parts availability this operation will deliver, we will continue providing customers a superior level of after-sales support.’

The new-build centre – which is expected to open in 2012 – will increase total warehouse capacity for the company’s Europe, Africa and Middle East (EAME) parts distribution network. It follows the opening of a new distribution centre in Johannesburg and a parts facility in Texas in 2009.
