Brett Group acquire Atlas Stone Products

CANTERBURY-based Brett group have acquired, for an undisclosed sum, the entire shareholding of Atlas Stone Products, specialists in building and landscape products. Employing 100 staff at their sites in Lechlade and Chipping Campden in Gloucestershire, and Rye in East Sussex, the company will continue to trade as Atlas Stone Products under their present management, led by managing director Peter Smythe.

Brett deputy chairman Bill Brett said: ‘This is a further step in the strategic development of the Brett group in the construction materials business. The Atlas Stone Products range fits well with our existing Brett Paving operation and builds on our acquisition last year of Greenham Construction Materials.’

Peter Smythe added: ‘We have achieved very good growth for the company since a management buy-out in 1995. Now we need to make further strides forward and the Brett group is an ideal partner to help us continue to build a very strong business for the future.’

The Brett group is now one of the largest independent construction material companies in the UK, with interests in ready-mixed concrete, sand and gravel, concrete products, decorative aggregates, specialist builders’ merchants, waste management and construction.
