Bobcat launch range of combination buckets

A NEW family of combination buckets is now available for Bobcat skid-steer, compact tracked and all-wheel steer loaders. Comprising five models with widths ranging from 157cm to 213cm, the new combination buckets replace buckets previously offered in these sizes and complement the existing 112cm and 140cm wide buckets.

Designed for diverse applications in construction, landscaping, demolition and recycling, the combination bucket is said to be a versatile tool acting as several attachments in one. Used as a normal bucket, it digs, carries, loads and dumps material. The clamshell section of the bucket, however, can be opened and closed over material to fill the bucket, a feature particularly useful for clean-up work. Moreover, the clamshell can be opened to release the material without having to tip the bucket forward, an important advantage when unloading into high-board trucks.

Like normal buckets, the bottom of the combination bucket can be used to level material. By opening the clamshell and employing the backplate as a dozer, however, the operator can use the combination bucket to push and grade material. The clamshell also makes it possible to use the combination bucket as a grapple to pick up chunks of broken concrete or other hard-to-handle materials.

The new buckets also feature several structural improvements and reinforcements. The hydraulic cylinders have been moved forward and are better protected. The hydraulic hoses and connectors can now be stored in the new hose guide on the buckets. Two new bolt-on cutting edges have been added, one on the dozer blade section and the other to the rear of the clamshell. The front cutting edge of the combination bucket has pre-drilled holes to accept either a secondary cutting edge or individual teeth. Side-cutting teeth are fitted as standard, the side plates have been reinforced and the hinges have been made stronger for greater durability.
