Blue machines working in tandem

Forfar-based Delson Contracts are a specialist recycling company processing amenity waste and building, construction and demolition debris. They have already purchased a wide selection of equipment from Blue Machinery Scotland and their latest investment consists of two Powerscreen Warrior 1800 dry screens and two OM Apollo crushers.

Delson Contracts are using the Warrior and Apollo machines in tandem as two identical ‘combination’ plants for the processing of material comprising mainly roadwork excavations, demolition material and general inert waste.

Material is screened to produce –5mm fines, which is used as topsoil, landfill cover or bulk filler for composted materials generated by Delson Contracts’ waste recycling division. The middle-sized product is a 5–40mm material that is washed to produce pea gravel and drainage stone. Any +40mm material is crushed by the OM Apollo to produce either 6F2 or Type 1 aggregate.

Delson Contracts currently operate three recycling sites where the ‘combination’ plants are used. They have reported that the mobility and rapid set-up times of the new OM crushers and Powerscreen plants are contributing greatly to the efficiency and productivity of all three sites.
