Biodiversity fun

"Hanson marked this year’s national biodiversity day by inviting groups to see what lives in and around their quarry sites. At the East Mendip study centre at the company’s Whatley Quarry local school children took part in a ‘mini-beast’ search and counted the number of species of plants and animals living in or near the quarry. Meanwhile, Hanson’s study centre at Aberduna Quarry in North Wales took local school children around the site to survey the environment and sketch wildlife in the area, while Great Lindford study centre near Milton Keynes, based on a restored quarry, launched its wildlife garden and held demonstrations of willow weaving, nest box making and discovery trails."
