BAA awards AOS certificate to Hullerhill Quarry

Hullerhill

Recently acquired Tillicoultry Quarries site completes British Aggregates Association Assessment of Operating Standards

HULLERHILL Quarry, near Kilwinning, in Ayrshire, recently successfully completed the BAA Assessment of Operating Standards (AOS) and the team there were awarded their certificate by Paul McManus, chairman of the British Aggregates Association and managing director of Cloburn Quarry Company.

Mr McManus commented on the excellent conditions at the site and personally congratulated the team on their performance and pointed out the importance of all working together to achieve a safe operating site.

Hullerhill is an interesting operation, being a sandstone rock deposit that is crushed, screened and wet classified into different grades of specialist sand for various markets.

The sand is dried and stored in large silos, each containing a different grade. From here, it is either bagged ready for delivery or supplied in bulk tankers to the end user.

The processing operation also includes the production of dry mortar in portable silos for delivery direct to construction sites throughout Central Scotland.

The Hullerhill operations, formerly Hugh King & Co., recently became part of the Tillicoultry Quarries group, one of the leading independent quarry operators in the region.
