Atlas Copco unveil Powercrusher range

Company launches its latest range of mobile crushers and screens at CONEXPO-CONN/AGG 2011

VISITORS at the recent CONEXPO-CONN/AGG exhibition in Las Vegas were among the first to see Atlas Copco’s new line of track-mounted mobile crushers and screens designed mainly for quarrying, road construction and recycling.

The product range covers jaw, impact and cone crushers with capacities ranging from 246–606 tonnes/h, and screeners with capacities from 242–485 tonnes/h. The jaw crusher units incorporate ‘Quattro Movement’, which causes a figure-eight motion in the moving jaw, increasing the feeding capacity and producing a post-crush at the crusher outlet.

The impact crusher models all use optimized geometry in the crusher box with hydraulically adjustable swing beams. This is said to result in a minimal percentage of oversized material, and high reduction ratios and throughputs. The Powercrusher cone units are designed to accept an ‘all-in infeed’, as this increases particle-on-particle crushing which, in turn, improves the quality of the end-material shape, decreases wear and eliminates the need for pre-screening.

Bo-Goran Johansson, vice-president of marketing for Atlas Copco’s Surface Drilling equipment division, said: ‘The current generation of Powercrushers combines a straightforward design and user-friendliness with long-term reliable performance.’

Other new products unveiled by the company at CONEXPO-CONN/AGG included the PowerROC T25, T30 and T35 top-hammer rigs, which have been designed for use in quarrying and construction applications.

The PowerROC rigs utilize a COP logic drilling control system to adjust drilling parameters in real-time and help the operator continue drilling straight holes. The units can address hole quality via an optional 3D hole inclination instrument. This device controls hole depth and contributes to accurate alignment control while collaring.

Another Atlas Copco product launched at the show is SmartROC T40, which, the company claims, is the most fuel-efficient surface drill rig (in its hole range) on the market. Easy to use, the SmartROC T40 drill rig is powered by a Tier 4-compliant engine, reducing emissions from NOx by 50% and particulate matter by 90%. Ongoing field tests have also shown that the rig reduces fuel consumption by up to 50% (depending on rock conditions) while minimizing carbon emissions.

In addition to new product launches, Atlas Copco have announced that they are changing the naming structure of their ROC-Series drill rigs. The new names will make it easier for customers to distinguish between the various drill rigs, clarify the different characteristics of the products and better define the applications for which they are intended.

This move has now created four categories of ROCK drill rigs – SmartROC, FlexiROC, PowerROC and AirROC.
