ASRP announces invitation to tender

THE Aggregates Strategic Research Programme (ASRP) has issued aninvitation to tender for funding to carry out seven projects to enhancethe evidence base to support the sustainable supply of aggregates.

The call for proposals opened last week with a submission deadlineof Friday 27 March 2009. The programme is open to both public andprivate sector organizations, including commercial organizations,academic institutions, public sector agencies and associations.

It is envisaged that the projects will be 100% funded from theAggregate Levy Sustainability Fund, although co-funded applicationswill be welcomed. All the projects are to be delivered in England.

 

Project proposals are invited for the following:

  • Development of a horizon scan for the production of aggregates.
  • Evaluation of the environmental impacts of aggregates within designated sites.
  • Development of an ecosystem approach to decision-making in the planning and restoration of aggregate quarries.
  • Scoping study for assessing decisions on when to build new rather than adapting old.
  • Assessment of the feasibility of using pipelines to transport aggregates.
  • Assessment of the design of lorries and quarries for aggregates transport.
  • Assessment of the feasibility of underground mining of aggregates.
