Titan ABG heavy-duty pavers laying roller-compacted concrete for Port of Liverpool extension project

LIVERPOOL2 is a £400 million investment programme by Peel Ports Group to expand and develop the Port of Liverpool into the UK’s most central deep-water container terminal.

The new terminal will be able to accommodate the world’s largest deep-sea container vessels, allowing global shippers ‘ship-to-door’ access to the UK’s major import centres via the most economic and lowest-carbon route, and providing northern-UK-based exporters with a more competitive route to market.

As one of the leading specialists in the on-site production and paving of sustainable hydraulically bound and roller-compacted concrete mixtures, SiteBatch Technologies (an Aggregate Industries contracting service) were bought on board to help design and build a suitable pavement solution for the new port extension.

As well as the supply of asphalt and roller-compacted concrete, Aggregate Industries are laying the pavement using special Titan ABG heavy-duty pavers capable of placing mixtures in a single layer up to 13m wide and 300mm thick – double the width and thickness of any other paver available on the market in the UK.
