A trio of Renault Trucks for RT Mycock & Sons

Renault Trucks Range C 8x4

Durability, off-road performance and vehicle reliability key factors in Range C selection

DURABILITY, off-road performance and weight handling were among the key factors that prompted Buxton-based concrete suppliers RT Mycock & Sons to take delivery of their first three Renault Trucks Range C 8x4s with aluminium Bay-lynx Newman volumetric mixer bodies.

Supplied by regional dealers JDS of Manchester, the new 32-tonne Range C430, C460 and C480 truck models all feature high bumpers and will strengthen R T Mycock’s mixed fleet of 17 vehicles.

Commenting on the decision to select Renault Trucks Range Cs, managing director Kevin Mycock said: ‘Our work is mainly on site and we’re the first there, putting in the footings, so off-road performance really matters. We currently operate 10 volumetric trucks and the new Range C trucks deliver good off-road performance.

‘They’re durable, the high bumper gives excellent ground clearance, they can handle the weight and the automatic gearbox is great. A further Range C430 6x4 has also gone on the road alongside a 64-plate Range K460 eight-wheeler.’

The Range C vehicles are working on a wide range of projects of all sizes, locally and across the country, running as far south as London. Supplying up to 10 cubic metres of mixed-on-site concrete, with the ability to change the mix at any time during delivery, the lightweight aluminium Bay-lynx volumetric mixer offers RT Mycock a one-tonne advantage over a standard steel body.

According to Michael Barr, service manager for Bay-lynx, the Renault chassis is the perfect partner. ‘The vast majority of our volumetric mixers are on Renault Trucks chassis, the mounting brackets are all in the right places and the chassis plugs straight into our body,’ he commented. ‘We work closely with JDS – the excellent levels of service we get from them makes the difference to our business and ensures we continue to specify Renault Trucks as the first-choice chassis for our volumetric mixers.’

Richard Davies, fleet sales director for JDS, added: ‘We are delighted to see that the robust Range C’s outstanding off-road performance is delivering for RT Mycock’s challenging operation. The Bay-lynx volumetric mixer on a Renault Trucks chassis is a powerful and proven combination. We look forward to continuing to work closely with both RT Mycock and Bay-lynx to support their businesses.’
