Friends of St Aidan’s BE1150 Walking Dragline announce two open days - 12 and 13 September - which form part of the Leeds Civic Trust Heritage Weekend during which people may visit many other places around Leeds, some of which are not normally open to the public.
Visitors can look all round outside and see the 25 cubic yard bucket, then go inside the machine, look all round and sit in the driver's seat. If they wish, visitors will also be able to walk the length of the jib which is resting on stacks of sleepers. Working models are in action in the sub-station, along with DVDs of draglines at work.
- Open each day from 2pm to 4pm.
- Free admission.
- Parking on site.
