Wyko unveil Fenner Plus range

Wyko have launched their latest line of power transmission products with the introduction of the Fenner Plus roller chain and sprockets. Suitable for use in arduous working environments, the solid rollers have been developed to achieve extremely high-surface hardness to ensure wear resistance and improved chain life.

Shot peened plates also help extend chain life further by relieving the stresses that build up during operation and reducing the likelihood of fatigue failure. In addition, since the chain plates are punched progressively, hole concentricity and accuracy of both diameter and pitch is maintained along the entire length of the chain.

Wyko say this results in a quieter and more accurate mesh with the sprockets and eases pin extraction when splitting the chain. The Fenner Plus chain is wax lubricated as standard, so that it can run straight from the box, although a non-lubricant version is available.

The former’s connecting link pins have 1900 Vickers Hardness, ensuring greater wear resistance, while the latter is made with sintered bushes, which allows the chain to operate at liner chain speeds of up to 2.5m/s – more than twice the speed of a composite bush chain.

Wyko’s Fenner Plus sprockets are available with up to 40 teeth and are manufactured from 0.45% plain carbon steel (C45). The teeth are flame-hardened to just below the tooth root, which, the company claim, helps improve the chain and sprocket life by up to 50% (depending on the application).
