Wirtgen acquire majority interest in Kleemann

WIRTGEN Group, specialists in mobile road construction equipment, have acquired a majority 80% interest in Kleemann GmbH, manufacturers of mobile and static crushing and screening equipment, for an undisclosed sum.

Kleemann GmbH, whose head office is based in Göppingen, Germany, will continue to operate with their own brand name but under the umbrella of the Wirtgen Group. Dr. Gerhard Schumacher is also to retain his current position as managing director of Kleemann GmbH.

The integration of Kleemann will open up a new, growth-oriented market segment for the Wirtgen Group. Wirtgen Mineral Technologies will be established alongside the company’s current segment, Wirtgen Road Technologies, which includes the core road construction and road rehabilitation equipment brands Wirtgen, Vögele and Hamm.

According to Wirtgen, the high quality of Kleemann machines and the company’s reputation in the market place fit perfectly with their own quality strategy and customer-oriented service philosophy.

Integration into the Wirtgen Group will provide Kleemann GmbH with additional resources. Plans to construct a new manufacturing plant in the Göppingen area are already under way to boost manufacturing capacity and production efficiency.

Plans are also being made for the marketing of Kleemann products via Wirtgen Group companies. The first tangible step has already been taken with the announcement that Wirtgen International and their local subsidiary companies are to take on marketing responsibility in the CIS member states and a number of East European countries.
