Tyre Boss help keep ETM Recycling on the move

Tyre Boss supply part worn tyres to ETM

Waste-management firm increases mobile plant uptime with quick turnaround OTR tyre replacement service

A SET of part worn solid tyres supplied by off-the-road (OTR) tyre specialists Tyre Boss has helped Bristol-based ETM Recycling deliver a cost-effective, short-term solution to tyre-related machine downtime at a waste site in south-west England.

Bridgend-based OTR tyre suppliers Tyre Boss have recently opened a second warehouse at their South Wales headquarters to strengthen their aftermarket parts support and provide a rapid response to customers with urgent enquiries and tyre requirements.

A simple phone call made by ETM Recycling to Tyre Boss on one afternoon resulted in a pre-10am delivery of the replacement tyres the next day; allowing the company’s frontline machine, a JCB 550-80 Wastemaster, to continue to work and ensure the least disruption to the business.

As a key player in the regional recycling markets in both Bristol and Bath, ETM Recycling work closely with customers in the area and as all employees are classified as ‘key workers’, the waste-management firm has been busier than ever during this unprecedented economic climate.

The JCB 550-80 Loadhall telehandler has been specifically designed for bulk-handling operations in heavy-duty waste applications. Due for imminent replacement at ETM Recycling’s waste site, the machine’s successor has been delayed due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The existing solid tyres on the JCB Wastemaster had also firmly come to the end of their working life and needed urgent replacement. And with no waste-spec telehandlers available for hire anywhere in the UK, it was imperative for ETM Recycling to find a short-term solution that will help maximize machinery uptime whilst meeting the recycling demands of their customers.

Providing a full range of tyre products to suit each sector of the waste and recycling markets, Tyre Boss had supplied a set of part worn 13.00-24 solid tyres (with 25mm of tread remaining) to the JCB 550-80 Wastemaster, ensuring consistent ‘puncture free’ operation and optimizing machine productivity and performance.

Sean Campbell of Holt JCB worked closely with ETM Recycling to find the most cost-effective and reliable solution for the frontline telehandler. He commented: ‘The 550-80WM is probably the busiest machine on site and we just needed a solution for a few weeks until the new machine is delivered. It would have been catastrophic to stop it working. Tyre Boss pulled all the stops out to help us and we received the tyres the next day.

‘You cannot get better service than that and the team at ETM are not only hugely grateful, but they are also highly impressed by the tyres which they will be keeping as spares once the new machine arrives.’
