Tunnel fleet

Hanson Aggregates have invested in a fleet of eight brand new Volvo FM7 32-tonne tipper trucks to cope with the increase in workload brought about by the Channel Tunnel Rail Link (CTRL) project.

'There is a large amount of extra work in the Kent area, particularly with the CTRL and a contract to widen the M2,' said Andy Taylor, Hanson's transport manager in Kent. 'Our existing fleet wasn't able to cope with the demand so the decision was made to invest in our own vehicles.' Capable of carrying coated as well as dry stone, the new trucks will primarily be used to transport local ragstone from Hanson's Allington Quarry to the CTRL site.
