Thief successfully thwarted by Axis Security

A remotely monitored CCTV system designed and installed by Axis Security recently detected an intruder on a waste-reclamation site, resulting in the person being apprehended.

The site in St Helens, Lancashire, was frequently the subject of break-ins as thieves scavenged for materials, notably copper, that can be found in many of the thousands of fridges dumped as scrap. However, thanks to a newly implemented and reliable remotely monitored CCTV system, the would-be thief was caught and the property was protected.

Axis Security won the installation and monitoring contract, which included integrating existing technology into a network of new cameras and detectors. Dave Leivers, manager at the company’s National Communications Centre was pleased to see that the Axis Security CCTV unit had proven successful.

‘The site manager was very satisfied with the performance of our system, especially now that there has been a noticeable reduction in site break-ins following the incident,’ he commented. ‘Although it is unrealistic to believe that the thieves will stay away forever, the system has now proved its potential and, I am confident, it will remain equally effective in protecting the site in future.’
