Tarmac reveal their plans for the future during exclusive ‘Next Gen 2030+’ event at Panshanger Park

TUESDAY 4 July saw Tarmac host an exclusive ‘Next Gen 2030+’ event, sharing what the construction industry can expect in the years to come and how the business is working with partners, customers and suppliers to shape the future.

Around 120 key customer representatives and supply chain partners, including National Highways, Kier, Skanska, Shell, and Renault Trucks, to name a few, attended the event, which was held at Tarmac-owned Panshanger Park, in Hertfordshire.

Joined by colleagues from CRH, Tarmac’s parent company, attendees gathered to hear more about the company’s 2030+ strategy, why digitization and diversity of thinking are so important, and the role that alliances and co-operation within the building materials industry can play in helping to bring to market stronger and more dynamic solutions to societal challenges like climate change.

Bevan Browne, Tarmac’s managing director, UK Materials, welcomed guests as the event kicked off with keynote sessions, where delegates heard from Lenora Moore, senior vice-president Solutions – CRH Europe; Matt Palmer, executive director, National Highways; and Carlos Espina, senior vice-president and group head of innovation at CRH.

New Civil Engineer editor Claire Smith hosted a question time panel with construction industry leaders before attendees had a chance to visit a series of interactive, specialist zones focused on topics ranging from manufacturing, supply chain and circular economy, technology and innovation, to people and social value.

The event also saw the formal launch of Tarmac’s Levelling Up Impact Report, in partnership with the Purpose Coalition. Graeme Boylen, HR director, Europe West, joined the Rt. Hon. Justine Greening, chair of the cross-party Purpose Coalition and founder of the Social Mobility Pledge, to discuss the report and Tarmac’s progress toward delivering significant social impact.

Andy Rowley, national commercial director at Tarmac, said: ‘It was really rewarding to see the power of collaborative conversations between our customers and colleagues from Tarmac and wider CRH businesses. The expertise and passion displayed throughout the discussions showed that together we will develop innovative solutions to address our shared challenges. We’re really pleased to say the event was a huge success.’
