Terex to open two new Centres of Excellence

TEREX Construction have announced plans to build on the success of their first product training ‘Centre of Excellence’ by opening two new centres in South Africa and Central Europe, with the aim of improving customer service and enhancing productivity.

‘Globalization has made it much easier for goods and services to be sold and transported to all areas of the world,’ said George McAdam, customer support director for Terex. ‘In this competitive market, it is increasingly important for construction manufacturers to differentiate their products and services.

‘Our Centre of Excellence in Motherwell, Scotland, has been instrumental in helping customers and distributors understand and appreciate the value of the Terex Construction product line, and we anticipate the same results in South Africa and Central Europe.’

The Terex Centre of Excellence in Motherwell has been in operation since 2006, and in that time more than 400 distributors, customers and Terex staff have attended product training courses. The new centres in South Africa and Central Europe will be managed by regionalized training experts and product specialists, who will adapt the content and delivery to local cultures and expectancies. The training will focus on the full line of Terex Construction equipment.

Scott Pollock, aftemarket training manager for Terex Construction, commented: ‘Increasing our customers’ productivity is our number one goal, and the more our customers and distributors understand our products, the more productivity they will get on the job site. This, in turn, will increase their return on investment.

‘In addition, product and service support is one of the most important factors in maintaining customer loyalty and satisfaction. We believe that by providing more localized centres, we are showing our commitment to delivering support in a way that meets local market and customer needs.’

The new centres are expected to open by the end of 2009.
