Tata Steel retain Silver status with Caterpillar

Tata Steel achieve Silver certification for Caterpillar’s Supplier Quality Excellence Programme

Tata Steel have for the second consecutive year achieved Silver certification for trackshoe supply within Caterpillar’s prestigious Supplier Quality Excellence Programme (SQEP).

Tata Steel began their journey on SQEP in 2007. They were initially certified to Bronze level after just 12 months and since then have gradually improved their performance to where they are today.

Peter Gate, global account manager for Caterpillar at Tata Steel, said: ‘We are delighted with our Silver recertification and it demonstrates Tata Steel’s commitment to working closely with our clients to achieve the best possible results. We will most definitely be targeting Gold certification in the near future and will continue to build on our existing supply chain successes.

‘Gaining certification means that Tata Steel have met prescribed criteria on quality and delivery performance as well as demonstrating ability to continuously improve processes. Our Trackshoe Longbar project was one such example of how Tata Steel’s close working relationship with Caterpillar brought about beneficial gains in supply chain efficiency.’

Tata Steel is one of the world’s leading steel suppliers and boasts a wide range of products for the automotive, lifting and excavating, packaging, construction and other related industries.
