Tamrock debut

Ali Moosa & Sons Crushers, based in the United Arab Emirates, took delivery of their first Tamrock Ranger 700-2 drill rig earlier this year from Dynatrade, the local distributors.

The rock extracted by Ali Moosa is a mixture of gabbro and serpentinite and is only found around Fujeirah. It is totally free of limestone, is highly abrasive and has a high silica content.

Producing a wide range of crushed aggregates for domestic and export sales, Ali Moosa provide aggregates for asphalt, concrete and hollow construction blocks. Customers include one of Dubai’s largest highway contractors, together with their own contracting company, plus ready-mixed concrete and block factories in Sharjah and Dubai. Due to the high demand for their products, Ali Moosa have increased production.

Ali Moosa took over development of the quarry three years ago. There are currently three 200 tonnes/h crushing lines, with a new 500 tonnes/h line being installed shortly. To meet the necessary increase in production, Ali Moosa ordered the Tamrock Ranger 700-2 drill rig. Since arrival on site the Ranger rig has been working virtually 10h a day; this will increase to 20h a day when the new crusher arrives.

Using a 2.6m x 2.7m spacing, up to 5 tonnes of explosive is used for a bench blast of approximately 10,000m3 or 28,000 tonnes twice a week.
