Sustainability accreditation for Lafarge
LAFARGE Aggregates & Concrete UK have earned high recognition for their sustainable approach to supplying products. The company received a ‘Very Good’ (3 star) rating in the Building Research Establishment (BRE) Responsible Sourcing of Construction Products scheme.
It is designed to encourage and promote responsibly sourced materials on a corporate level and provide customers and stakeholders with confidence that Lafarge’s products have been responsibly sourced.
As part of the BRE scheme, assessment is made on carbon emissions, resource use, waste management and transport, as well as impact on employment, skills and local communities. The recent achievement follows similar Very Good ratings for Lafarge Readymix and Lafarge Cement.
‘The certificate demonstrates our commitment to operating a sustainable business and gives our customers and stakeholders confidence that the materials and products we supply are responsibly sourced,’ commented Steve Millburn, project manager for Lafarge A&C UK.
‘The advantage for Lafarge is that we have an established and credible sustainability approach. This is demonstrated by our strong partnerships with bodies, including WWF and local wildlife trusts across the UK.’
