Steelwrist launch SQ40 quick coupler
New unit brings full automatic work tool changes to compact machines, boosting safety and efficiency on site
STEELWRIST have expanded their SQ auto connection technology with the launch of the new SQ40 automatic coupler, designed for compact excavators between 2 and 7 tonnes.
First previewed at bauma 2025, the SQ40 allows operators to switch high-flow hydraulic work tools quickly and safely without leaving the cab, bringing the same productivity and safety benefits of larger SQ systems to smaller machines.
The SQ40 delivers up to 70 litres/min of hydraulic flow – 40% higher than standard 3/8in couplings – thanks to a new, optimized design. It also introduces the new H6 six-pin electrical connector, fully integrated into the coupler’s locking wedge and engineered for durability, reliability, and environmental protection.
Following the symmetrical S40 standard, the SQ40 is fully compatible with existing work tools and can be easily upgraded from S to SQ installations. Its modular construction allows flexible hose routing and quick installation across a wide range of attachments.
‘Since we introduced SQ40 at bauma, there has been a lot of interest in the product from many customers, and with the introduction of the SQ40 quick coupler, we can also offer a sandwich tiltrotator installation,’ said Steelwrist’s chief executive officer, Stefan Stockhaus. ‘This is beneficial when you want to easily disconnect the tiltrotator to use, for example, a breaker.’
