South Ferriby cement logistics jobs under threat

CEMEX announce proposed redundancies of cement tanker drivers based at South Ferriby

CEMEX have today announced the proposed redundancies of the cement logistics employees based at their South Ferriby cement plant.

Following the recent decision to mothball the cement plant, CEMEX say they reviewed a number of options and concluded that it is no longer financially viable to continue to operate the fleet at South Ferriby logistics depot, resulting in the redundancies of 25 cement tanker drivers and one manager.

The company will shortly commence a process of collective consultation with affected employees. A final decision will be announced when this has been completed, with the proposed redundancies expected to take place during the third quarter of 2020.

CEMEX have stressed that all commitments to the local community will be maintained, including the work agreed as part of the Environment Agency flood-protection project.
