Shaker saves Laser money

"Strickland Direct have supplied two EXP shaker buckets to Worcester-based contractors Laser Civil Engineering Ltd. The buckets are being used on a contract in Ambergate, Derbyshire, which initially involves the site remediation of an old brickworks which was subsequently used as a rubbish tip. Once clean, the company are to construct the infrastructure for a large housing development, but there is a large quantity of material that needs to be separated."

"Laser’s site foreman, Don Griffin, commented: ‘With each full 20-tonne capacity wagon costing more than £600 to tip, we have to make efforts to reduce the amount of material taken off site to the tip. This is in-line with our company’s policy to recycle as much material as possible on each site."

"‘Fitted to Komatsu PC210 excavators, the shaker buckets can sort the site material into three piles — valuable topsoil kept for use in the gardens; rubble that can be crushed and used on site; and waste to go to the tip,’ he said."

"A large amount of brick and concrete rubble is processed on-site using a crusher. Because the site features a slope, this material is reused for fill behind the many retained walls constructed by Laser to form a series of terraces."

"Available for carrier machines weighing up to 35 tonnes, the EXP shaker bucket can be directly mounted or used with a quick-hitch. With its heavy-duty cutting edge and replaceable teeth for extra strength and penetration, it is suitable for sorting mixed stone in quarry stockpiles, sorting assorted demolition material or feeding a crusher. A heavy front sideplate with cast steel side cutters gives added wear resistance. Tines, braced by side-to-side tubes, give added strength and the heavy-duty tubular top braces the bucket against twisting."
