Company strengthens its engines team with appointment of Dean Lakey as a new account manager

KUBOTA have strengthened their oil- and water-cooled diesel and duel-fuel engines team with the appointment of Dean Lakey as a new account manager.

Mr Lakey has more than 25 years’ experience in the engineering and manufacturing sector, the last 16 of which were in the industrial engines market for Perkins Engines Co. Ltd, working in various global customer-facing marketing and sales training roles.

In his new role at Kubota he will be responsible for working with the senior team to implement the company’s engine strategy, which includes managing and developing relationships with existing engine dealers and OEM customers, along with identifying opportunities for growth with potential customers.

In addition, Mr Lakey will help drive Kubota’s marketing strategy forward to deliver long-term growth for the division.

Daniel Grant, Kubota’s business development manager for engines, said: ‘It’s an extremely exciting time in the diesel engine industry, with stringent legislative changes driving advancements in technology to ensure equipment is powered by the most efficient and cost-effective diesel engines.

‘The impact of these changes presents an huge opportunity for growth, not just for engine manufacturers, but for our OEM and dealer customers. At Kubota, we are committed to investing in our product range and the right people to drive both our business and our customers’ businesses forward.

‘The appointment of Dean further highlights this commitment as he brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to his role. We are delighted he has joined the team and wish him every success in his role.’

Kubota’s Engines Division now has three dedicated account managers under Daniel Grant. Mr Lakey will be responsible for the English market, whilst Lee Skinner looks after the Irish and Scottish regions, and Andy Wolton takes charge of the Scandinavian and Baltic countries, as well as the south of England.

Dean Lakey (pictured) said: ‘Kubota’s range of diesel engines are world renowned as the best on the market, so it’s an exciting prospect to work for the company. I am really looking forward to the challenge of helping the business grow and develop further by working in partnership with the team here and also bringing some new and fresh ideas that will help not only cement existing customer relationships, but also open up new markets.

‘A key part of this will be working with our customers to prepare them for the future challenges ahead, particularly around 2019 legislation and understanding newer technologies and engine development programmes, to ensure we are all well placed to take advantage of the opportunities available.’
