Safety first
THE Association of Equipment Manufacturers (AEM) has published an updated safety guidebook for carrier-mounted hydraulic breakers. The manual, which reflects best current industry practice in machine design and construction as well as up-to-date best safety practices, covers most common carrier applications, including excavators and skid steer loaders.
AEM safety guides are said to offer cost-effective health and safety education for equipment operators and maintenance personnel, illustrating typical worksite and machinery hazards, and detailing safe practices in site preparation, operation, maintenance and transport.
The AEM Carrier Mounted Hydraulic Breaker Safety Manual has expanded by nearly a third, to 60 pages. Additional material includes: safe mounting and dismounting; utility locating practices; attachment installation; use and maintenance of quick-couplers; and utilization of newer safety design features such as gate- or armrest-based hydraulic control locks.
