Revolvo reduce lead times for large bearings

Revolvo’s almost £1m investment in two new GER CNC grinding machines has improved their throughput of large solid bearings (over 500mm) by over 400%, cutting the lead times currently offered by bearing majors from 18-24 months to around 24 weeks.

The two new GER vertical grinding machines allow Revolvo to increase their throughput of large bearings up to 1,500mm OD, allowing them to expand into new markets, such as wind energy, mining, steel, renewable energy, oil and gas, wire cable production and marine.

The company made the investment in the accurate grinding machines to achieve shorter lead times for customers.

Although purchased primarily for use on larger solid bearings, such as cylindrical roller bearings, ball bearings and tapered roller bearing with pin-type cages, the flexibility of the new machines means that they are also being used on Revolvo’s SRB range as well. The machines - especially the RTV1000 - can also be used to help deliver medium-sized bearings.
