Lafarge Tarmac given a green light for the acquisition of TBP from Anglo American

THE Competition and Markets Authority has approved Lafarge Tarmac’s acquisition of Tarmac Building Products (TBP) from Anglo American.

In November 2013 it was announced that Lafarge Tarmac entered into an agreement with Anglo American to purchase TBP, subject to regulatory approval.

TBP, who employ around 800 staff across the UK, are one of the UK’s leading suppliers of heavy building materials, including blocks, mortar, bagged aggregates and cement products.

Cyrille Ragoucy (pictured), chief executive officer of Lafarge Tarmac, said: We are pleased to welcome Tarmac Building Products into Lafarge Tarmac. TBP will enlarge Lafarge Tarmac’s offer and will help us get closer to our customers’ needs.

‘TBP are a close fit with our existing business and will clearly open up new opportunities for Lafarge Tarmac, particularly in the house-building sector.’

The terms of the transaction have not been disclosed.
