Record-breaking contract for RMC

RMC have won the biggest ready-mixed concrete order in the Group’s 70-year history. Some 2.4 million cubic metres of concrete are being supplied by RMC Topmix for the expansion of Dubai International Airport, one of the fastest-growing airports in the world.

RMC have erected three concrete plants at the airport site, each capable of producing 280m3/h, with a fourth plant soon to be added. The company are also operating 50 trucks supplying an average of 4,000m3 a day. At its peak, this figure is expected to rise to 7,000m3 a day.

To cope with potential production problems caused by the extreme desert heat, RMC are also producing 540 tonnes of ice a day using six on-site water-chilling plants.

The US$2.5 billion airport expansion programme includes the construction of a third passenger terminal, two concourses and a cargo terminal.
