Quarry workers praised for 1,500 accident-free days
Bardon Aggregates’ Crich Quarry, near Matlock in Derbyshire, recently reached the milestone of 1,500 days without accidents or injuries, in line with targets set by parent company Aggregate Industries as part of the HSC’s ‘Hard Targets’ initiative.
Quarry manager Martin Selfe commented: ‘To reach 1,500 days without any accidents whatsoever is a remarkable achievement. With a headcount of 11 direct employees, including weighbridge staff, plus seven part-time contractors, this means over 10,000 man days have been logged without an accident.
‘Credit goes to every employee working on this site for their hard work and dedication. This figure shows we are getting it right and the ongoing challenge is to keep getting it right.’
