A team from Metso Minerals recently completed one of the toughest challenges in the UK — climbing the three highest peaks in Scotland, England and Wales, all within 24h. The challenge, sponsored by Cable & Wireless, is an annual event which attracts teams from across Britain, all intent on raising money for Children’s Aid Direct.
The Metso team conquered the first peak, Ben Nevis, on Saturday evening before driving south through the night to arrive in the Lake District well before dawn on Sunday, ready for an attempt on Scafell Pike. By mid-morning the team had topped this peak and were en route to Snowdon in North Wales. After a tough final ascent, the team crossed the finish line in Llanberis having completed the entire challenge in 23h and 8min, finishing second out of 25 teams taking part.
Thanks to their many sponsors, the Metso team contributed almost £4,000 towards the £138,000 raised by the event.
