OTR go online

Tyredata International Ltd have recently completed a total tyre-management software installation for OTR Tyres Ltd. The installation is the largest yet undertaken by Tyredata and includes the linking of OTR’s eight UK regional depots to one server database at their head office.

"The installation included software systems at each of the OTR depots as well as the supply of hand-held devices (Tyredata Inspector) to allow OTR’s field engineers to carry out fleet inspections for their customers. The information gathered is downloaded at each depot for verification. Inspections include: machine hours, tyre tread depths, tyre pressures and tyre conditions. The software also allows day-to-day tyre actions such as fitments and removals to be recorded. OTR can provide customers with reports which give information such as the present fleet status, tyre usage, wear rates and tyre usage projections."

"Once sufficient data has been gathered it is proposed to allow customers to access the data via the Internet. Access will be password protected and users will only be able to view their own data. A more general view will also be available where customers can view tyre performance by tyre size, pattern, manufacturer, vehicle type and underfoot conditions."

"Chris Skelton, managing director of OTR Tyres, commented: ‘We worked very closely during the development stage to ensure that the final product addressed our own and our customers’ requirements. Primarily we wanted a system that was user-friendly and applied logical steps that emulated everyday actions like fitting and removing tyres to vehicles. We also required a system that would allow for all our customers, and their site locations, to be contained in one database. When all data has been entered into the system it will contain information on almost 900 customers, 6,000 vehicles and 30,000 tyres. The hand-held Inspector has provided a 47% time-saving over our old manual data-entry system.’"

"Tyredata can also provide a system for fleet operators who wish to monitor their own tyres by providing a stand-alone version of the software, specifically designed for the single user who wishes to maintain in-house tyre records."
