"Mendip Rail, the joint-venture company formed by Hanson and Foster Yeoman, have taken on their first ever apprentices."

"Russell Metcalfe (21) and Peter Brown (18) are based at Mendip Rail’s workshops near Frome, Somerset, where they are part of an eight-man team carrying out maintenance work on the locomotives and shunters that help transport around five million tonnes of limestone every year from the Mendip quarries to London and the South-East."

Russell and Peter are receiving practical on-the-job training as well as attending college on day release. When they finish their apprenticeships they will be fully qualified locomotive technicians.
