New traineeship scheme at Castle Cement

"CASTLE Cement have launched a new production traineeship scheme across their three cement works in the UK –– Ketton in Lincolnshire, Clitheroe in Lancashire and Padeswood in North Wales."

"Aimed at young people aged 18 or under, the scheme is designed to bring fresh talent into the company to meet future production needs. Two vacancies are currently available at each plant and it is anticipated further opportunities will be available in the future."

"Working towards an NVQ in Process Operations Level III, the trainees will undergo a comprehensive training programme covering all aspects of cement production from quarrying the raw material through to delivering the finished product to the customer. Safety, quality standards and procedures will also be a key feature of the programme. This will be followed by an ‘improver’ year."

"Dave Bagshaw, general manager at Castle Cement’s Ketton Works, said: ‘With the company’s workforce becoming increasingly mature, we have decided to introduce this production traineeship scheme for young people, in addition to our existing apprenticeship scheme, in order to ensure that the production needs of the company are met in the longer term.’"

The traineeships currently being advertised will begin in September 2002.
