New specialist division from Miller

A 35-tonne bucket unveiled by Miller UK to great acclaim at this year’s Hillhead exhibition has been delivered to an open-cast coal mine in Spain. Hitachi Construction Machinery Europe chose the Northumberland-based company to produce the new bucket design for their EX5500 excavator.

Weighing approximately 31 tonnes and measuring 4.25m wide x 4.1 tall x 4.5m deep, with a 300mm thick cutting edge, the new design is the largest bucket ever made by Miller.

Also taking centre stage on the company’s stand at Hillhead was the launch of Miller’s Site Solutions Division. Offering a range of products and services designed to improve machine performance and site productivity, the division specializes in bucket repair and refurbishment; customized solutions; coupler safety inspections, UK dealer and end-user sales; and replacement part sales.

‘Site Solutions is based on years of experience in providing safe, reliable and productive custom-built solutions but now we’re taking that expertise directly to the customer,’ said Lee Palmer, business manager of Miller Site Solutions.

‘We work with our customers to find solutions to meet their specific needs and to help them improve their business, whether it’s a short-term problem to solve, such as a bucket repair, or a long-term solution, such as analysing the needs of a business and formulating a strategy to increase productivity.’

Site Solutions run a 24h, seven-days-a-week service from their purpose-built repair facility, with nationwide collection and delivery, as well as a loan bucket and 48h turnaround service to keep downtime to a minimum.
