New sound-level meter series from Cirrus

Cirrus Research, specialists in the design and manufacture of noise measurement equipment for health and safety applications, have introduced their CR:260A series of sound level meters.

Suitable for use in a wide range of applications, from noise at work assessments to vehicle noise testing and environmental noise measurements, the CR:260A series comprises eight meters that are easy to operate with single function buttons.

All the units have been specially designed to meet current noise- measurement guidelines. For example, each meter is capable of taking A and C weighted measurements for HML applications and machinery noise testing. The CR:260A series, available in either Class 1 or Class 2 accuracy, also complies with the latest IEC 61672, IEC 60651 and IEC 60804 measurement standards.

After recording noise measurements, users can download data to a PC via a USB connection, which will help to identify the most appropriate hearing protection. This is assisted by Cirrus’s Deaf Defier3 software (supplied as standard), which interprets the readings and helps in the selection of PPE.

The new 260A sound level meters are suitable for any health and safety, and noise at work application, according to James Tingay, group marketing manager at Cirrus. ‘Easy to use and robustly built, the series will help businesses keep within the letter of the law with regard to noise safety and help users to select appropriate ear protection,’ he said.

As with all Cirrus equipment, the CR:260A series sound level meters are issued with a comprehensive ‘2–12’ year warranty. This means customers are given an initial 24-month warranty, which can be extended up to 12 years if the equipment is serviced and recalibrated by Cirrus every 12 months. Free backup and support, including license software, is provided with every Cirrus noise measurement product.
