Melker Jernberg appointed as president of Volvo CE and member of the Volvo Group executive board
MELKER Jernberg has been appointed as president of Volvo Construction Equipment and member of the Volvo Group executive board, effective 1 January 2018.
Mr Jernberg (pictured) is currently president and chief executive officer of Swedish-based powder metallurgy company Höganäs AB, prior to which he held the position of executive vice-president and head of the EMEA business area at Swedish-based steel manufacturers SSAB.
He will replace Martin Weissburg who, due to family reasons, has decided to move back to the US and will take up a position as senior advisor to Volvo Group’s president and chief executive officer, Martin Lundstedt, based in Greensboro, North Carolina.
‘Martin Weissburg has, through his strong leadership, been key to the considerable improvement in the performance of Volvo Construction Equipment and will continue to have senior positions within the Volvo Group,’ said Mr Lundstedt.
Mr Weissburg will remain in position until the end of 2017 and take up his new role as senior advisor during the first quarter of 2018.
