New online database of plant training courses

Construction Plant Training Associates launch single source portal for plant training courses

PLANT operators and managers looking for accredited training courses can now book courses directly through a new online training database launched by the Construction Plant Training Associates (CPTA).

The service, which will go live in June 2011, is free for anyone looking for plant training and testing. Instead of having to search for training providers and then find out the dates, locations and prices of their various courses, they can simply go to www.cpta.co.uk – the new single source for plant training.

For the first time, all courses covering 60+ safety-critical plant operation categories, offered by more than 400 providers across Britain and Northern Ireland, will be searchable and bookable online.

Training providers are invited to subscribe to post their courses at the site. They can edit their details at any time and all booking, billing and invoicing is all conducted online via secure servers.

Construction industry training professional Ian Fisher (pictured), who developed the portal, said: ‘At present, so much time and administration is wasted on finding the right course. Often smaller providers can miss enquiries because they are engaged elsewhere, or courses can only be arranged when the numbers are sufficient to make them economic.

‘It can also be difficult for those requiring training to source courses run by some of the major players, for whom training represents only a fraction of their business.

‘For a provider, posting courses on cpta.co.uk will mean greater traffic and a presence 24h a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year. For an operative, it means they can track down the appropriate course within easy reach at a time that suits them. Everyone wins.’
