New flagship plant for Bardon Concrete

A NEW ready-mixed concrete plant from Rapid International Ltd has helped Bardon Concrete secure a contract to supply concrete to Carillion plc for an extension to the Airdrie–Bathgate rail link in Scotland.

Forming part of a major project to improve rail links in Central Scotland, the work will provide a fully double-tracked and electrified line linking communities between Glasgow and Edinburgh.

The new, modular concrete batching plant has allowed Bardon Concrete to improve production capacity at their Scottish headquarters in Duntilland Quarry, adjacent to the M8 motorway.

Featuring a Rapid R3000 pan mixer, six high-capacity aggregate bins and four cement silos, the plant is designed to produce a range of high-specification concretes and screeds. Twin outlets on the pan mixer allow two truckmixers to be positioned underneath, thereby ensuring continuous batching.

In addition, a separate batching facility for floor screeds, such as Bardon’s Highflow S self-levelling floor screed, ensures that there is no possibility of contamination of oversize aggregates or cement.

Another key feature of the plant is stepped access to all areas that require maintenance or adjustment, including the tops of the silos.
