New electric screeds from IR ABG

IR ABG have launched a new family of electric screeds for their Titan range of wheeled and tracked paver-finishers.

The design of the VB 78 and VB 88 electric screeds ensures that the maximum heating output is reached even at a very low engine speed and that the heating process can be accurately controlled via three independent electrical heater circuits. An integrated temperature control ensures a constant heating output on the screed and an electronic control system automatically adapts the engine speed to the requirements of the electric heating system.

"The screeds feature a patented quick-coupling system that saves time and, as no tools are required, reduces assembly work. The hydraulically extendable screed sections can be simultaneously extended and retracted and the increased height of the screed’s front wall prevents spillage of paving materials over the top of these sections."

"The electrically heated Variomatic VB 78 screed offers hydraulic adjustment of the paving width from 2.5m to 5.0m, and with screed extensions it can provide paving widths for mats up to 9.0m wide. The VB 88 screed offers adjustable paving widths from 3.0m to 6.0m, with a maximum paving width of 9.0m."

"The VB 78 screed is designed for use on the Titan 273, 373 and 473 wheeled pavers and the Titan 225 EPM and Titan 325 EPM tracked pavers. The larger paving widths offered by the VB 88 screed make it suitable for use on the Titan 473 wheeled paver and the Titan 225 EPM, Titan 325 EPM and Titan 525 tracked pavers. The latter are fitted with IR ABG’s electronic paver-management (EPM) system which provides a temperature display of the screed on the paver’s control panel."

The new screeds also offer a hydraulic crown-control adjustment system with a patented locking system to provide easy and accurate alteration of the crown setting using a spring-loaded brake with an adjustment range from +4% to –2%. A new screed-tensioning device helps to prevent twisting and torsion effects on the screed extensions. A hydraulic cylinder allows the length of the tensioning device to be varied to match the changing paving widths on the extensions.

"The insulated screed plate on the VB 78 provides heating only where it is needed. The wearing strips are positioned to minimize wear and tear and the screed has a central lubrication system with a progressive distributor for the tampers and vibrators, reducing routine service work to a minimum."
