New educational video

"‘Mobile Plant in Quarrying’ is the title of a new video intended to illustrate textbooks, technical talks and three teaching units of the Doncaster Assisted Private Study course (Loading at the Face; Scrapers; and Dumptrucks) by providing moving images of the most common types of mobile equipment found in quarries producing aggregates."

"The equipment featured includes scrapers, backhoe excavators, hydraulic and rope faceshovels, wheel loaders, draglines, articulated and rigid dumptrucks, tractor dozers and rippers, graders, and water bowsers. A commentary explains the application of each machine and the accessories fitted for safety."

"The video, which has a running time of 25min, should be useful for training students and newly recruited plant operators and trainee managers, as well as for induction talks and informing visitors to quarries. It is the second educational video to be conceived by the Supply Committee and produced with the financial support of the Educational Development and Benevolent Fund of The Institute of Quarrying."

"It was compiled and produced by Grahame Miller of Miller’s Classic Plant, Cambridge, from video clips that he shot on site with the assistance of the mobile plant manufacturers, plant-hire contractors and operating companies. The production and scripting of the commentary were managed by Mike Smith, general manager of The Institute of Quarrying, with the advice of many others."

"‘Mobile Plant in Quarrying’ is available in VHS PAL format, price £30.00 + VAT and £3.00 p&p, from:"
